JOB DESCRIPTION
CDL DRIVER CLASS A
Area of Responsibilities and Duties:
Safely operate a Class A truck with trailer in tow
Efficiently navigate roadways
Perform quality control inspections of completed work, identify non-conforming quality issues and effectively communicate them to supervisor
Provide excellent customer service and represent the company according to our high standards
Problem solve
Follow checklists and protocols while performing job
Perform Quality Control check of completed jobs, comparing equipment to work requested on Work Order
Regularly clean and maintain equipment
Ensure a safe, organized and tidy workspace
Support coworkers, able to work as part of a team and get along with co-workers
Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices
Skills and Requirements:
Possesses a valid CDL drivers license
Possesses an acceptable driving record according to company Driver Fleet Policy
3-4 years of OTR driving experience
Must be insurable according to our current insurance companies requirements (acceptable driving record, age minimum and maximum requirements)
Must be able to read and write in English in order to follow local, state and federal driving safety signs
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Able to pass background check
Attention to detail
Efficient worker
Excellent communication skills
Able to pass drug test
Able to pass DOT Medical Examiners exam
Able to work in uncomfortable conditions (heat, cold)
Able to work a physically demanding, fast paced work day
Able to make connections between cab and trailer (glad hands etc.)
Able to strap and secure loads, or wrecked trailers
Physical Demands/Abilities performed throughout the duration of the work shift:
Heavy Work- Exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs of force frequently or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including other job related items.
Walking/Standing for sustained periods of time.
Climbing Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using entire body
Stooping/Crouching Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs, and spine.
Balancing Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling.
Kneeling/Crawling Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s) or moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
Whole Hand/Fingers Picking, pinching, typing with fingers and grasping with the fingers and palm.
Repetitive Motion Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Talking Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary.
Hearing Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Vision Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, using measurement devices, viewing electronic devices, assembling, inspecting small parts and/or operating machines and power tools, operate a motor vehicle and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.) This is not an all-inclusive list of every job duty affiliated with the CDL DRIVER position and Dallas Trailer Repair Co reserves the right to assign additional tasks and responsibilities as needed
